CSD president visits Nou Mestalla site
José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes praises a project that he believes can be a 2030 World Cup venue
Valencia CF recently received an institutional visit from José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, president of the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD), the highest national sporting organisation in Spain.
Rodríguez Uribes was present this past weekend at VCF Femenino's match against Real Madrid at the Ciudad Deportiva, and visited the construction site of the Nou Mestalla, where he was welcomed by Valencia CF General Manager Javier Solís and Director of Operations and Infrastructure, Christian Schneider. He was able to see firsthand the scale and progress of the project..
“It's magnificent; it seems like an extraordinary project to me. I hope that in a very short time, in a couple of years, we'll have a new Valencia CF stadium -not only for Valencia CF, but also for the city and for Spain. That's why I believe we'll definitely have a venue here for the 2030 World Cup. Now, seeing the construction work, the progress, the project, the sustainable and modern stadium concept with many possibilities, not just for football, we're in the best position. We're all in sync; at the CSD, we've supported Valencia and Valencia CF hosting the World Cup,” emphasised Rodríguez Uribes.
The CSD president explained that "during this visit to the site, I have seen that we're going to have an extraordinary, modern, magnificent stadium… When I entered, it reminded me a bit of the Stade de France from when I was at the Paris Olympics. This stadium has the same magnificent spaces that are necessary in modern stadium concepts, which provide security, and Valencia CF fans will really enjoy it.”
Regarding the possibility of the Nou Mestalla being a host venue for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, he expressed complete confidence.
“That's what the club, the city, and the institutions are committed to achieving. Valencia is an extraordinary city that deserves to be present at major events, and this project meets all the conditions for it. There's a firm project, there's timeframes, and I'm convinced the result will be fantastic. It's going to be the newest and most modern stadium. Valencia is the third-largest city in Spain, life here is wonderful, there's an infrastructure, a high-speed train network, hotels, and a hospitable community… And I'm very happy because I can see with my own eyes that this is moving forward, that it's going to be done well, and that Valencia CF have a well-thought-out project. This is something we can feel very satisfied and very happy about,” he concluded by saying.
